In the second century BCE, during the Maccabean revolt, Hebrew rebels ousted the forces of Antiochus IV from the Temple, but discovered that there was only one container of oil that was still sealed by the High Priest.
There wasn't much oil, and it was expected that there would only be enough to keep the Temple lamp lit for one day.
Miraculously, that oil lasted eight days.
