The last two weeks have been fun for my family. SoccerGirl has been at camp, having a good old time from what we gather. Mrs Gunfighter has been going to work earlier, and therefore coming home earlier, which means I get to have my dinner earlier. Everybody wins, right? Right.
The only fly in the familial ointment here, is that we miss her. I am here to tell you that I will be quite pleased, tomorrow, when she returns from camp. I'm sure that she will be all tuckered-out, but that situation will be easily improved by a trip to Barnes & Noble for some medicinal book shopping, a burger from 5 Guys, and the ride home to her home, her room, and her beloved stuffed animals.
Shortly after we return home all will be normal. It won't be terribly long before we hear the familiar cry of "Daddy? I'm hungry!, when is dinner?" Music to my ears.
I know that these two weeks were fun for her... and I know that she will have good memories of camp, I also know that she will want to go again next year, but at the end of a very selfish day, I wish she were home right this minute, with us, where she belongs.
How's that for maudlin on a Friday morning?
